Project One: Sketch! Like Your Life
Depends On It! (Individual)
Task:
Each student is then required to produce
8 number of sketches on suitable A5 size paper (landscape). Students are
required to sketch the followings:
A. Body Parts / Figure / Nature
B. Object Projection
C. Geometric Projection
D. Your City – Projection (coloured or
rendered)
E. One point Perspective of an area or
areas in Taylor's University
F. Two point Perspective of an area or
areas in Taylor's University
H. Tracing a picture of a building
(rendering)
Objectives:
1. To identify a personal and expressive response to
visual simulation.
2. To apply basic principles and elements of design and
drawing as a language to visualise and to communicate ideas.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Recognize their potential for creativity,
self-expression and visual awareness.
2. Identify the
fundamental principles, elements and techniques in sketching, drawing, design
process and presentation skills.

Reflection
Through project 1, my drawing skills, including my
sketching and rendering techniques improve quickly. I learned new rendering
techniques to produce better sketches. I also can visualise and understand
perspectives and proportion more. It helped me in documenting to produce
perspective drawing of the things on a certain site. In the sketches, I get to choose
some rendering techniques that I think suitable for them. All the intended
learning outcomes and objectives were achieved.
a. Location
b. Site Context
c. Size, Zoning and Legal
d. Natural and Man Made Physical Features
e. Circulation
f. Utilities: To indicate any services & utilities within the selected site through drawings.
g. Sensory Perception
h. Human, Culture and Activities
i. Climate
j. SWOT Analysis
Project Two: Orthographic
Drawings & Diagrams (Individual)
Task:
Project 2A
Students will be given a
space of about 10mx15m (not more) in TUC whereby they will have to measure and
observe the site. Students are required to produce the followings on A3 size
papers of their choice. My site chosen was Library Level 4.
1. One page for INTRODUCTION
of the site and project.
2. One LAYOUT PLAN of the
site at the scale of 1:50.
3. One DETAILED PLAN of the
site at the scale of 1:50.
4. Three/Four ELEVATIONS
related to the plan and site.
5. ONE - one point or two
point perspective sketched perspectives and ONE - sketched axonometric.
6. One page of details
sketches applying the glass box theory of elements related to the site given.
Project 2B
Students are required use
the area from Project 2A to illustrate Bubble Diagrams and Diagrammatic
Analysis. Students are required to produce the followings diagrams on A3 size
papers of their choice (*with approval of their tutor or lecturer):
.
1. ONE page to illustrate a
Bubble Diagram for the area used in Project 2A.
2. ONE page to illustrate a
Bubble Diagram for the entire level of the area (from Project 2A) that it is
on.
3. ONE or TWO page to
illustrate Diagrammatic Analysis on the area or level or block that relates to
site used in Project 2A.
Objectives:
1. To apply basic principles
and elements of design and drawing as a language to visualise and to
communicate ideas.
2. To demonstrate
observation and visualisation skills in a variety of ways depending on the area
of specialisation being pursued with an emphasis on the process of drawing.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify the fundamental
principles, elements and techniques in sketching, drawing, design process and
presentation skills.
2. Demonstrate observation
skills and be able to record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of
issues via visual communications effectively.
3. Manipulate variety of
media and techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product
4. Apply drawing as a means
of communication in order to express two dimensional and three dimensional
ideas.

Through this project, I had applied the fundamental
principles, elements and techniques in sketching, drawing, design process and
presentation skills. I had also demonstrated observation skills and be able to
record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of issues via visual
communications effectively. Besides that, I manipulate variety of media and
techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product.
Project 3: Introduction to
Site Analysis (Group + Individual)
Task:
Group
In groups students are required
to execute and prepare the followings;
1.
As a group, students are required to do a further observation of the site used
in Project 2.
2.
Students are required to prepare the following information;
b. Site Context
c. Size, Zoning and Legal
d. Natural and Man Made Physical Features
e. Circulation
f. Utilities: To indicate any services & utilities within the selected site through drawings.
g. Sensory Perception
h. Human, Culture and Activities
i. Climate
j. SWOT Analysis
Individual
Individually,
each group member should come up with a “case study” and propose an idea to show what would be suitable for
site and to fit the Final Project requirements. Each group member should
produce a case study on not more than 2 piece of A3 paper.
Objectives:
1. To demonstrate
observation and visualisation skills in a variety of ways depending on the area
of specialisation being pursued with an emphasis on the process of drawing.
2. To develop confidence to
use drawing as a means of communication to express two dimensional and three
dimensional ideas.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate observation
skills and be able to record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of
issues via visual communications effectively.
2. Manipulate variety of
media and techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product.

Reflection
With this project, I had
become more observant by demonstrating observation skills and be able to
record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of issues via visual
communications effectively. I had also manipulated variety of media and
techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product. I was able to solve
the problem regarding our site after this project.
Final Project: Feature Wall
Installation Design Proposal (Individual)
Task:
The task is for the students
to propose a wall installation or a feature wall at the given site in Project 2
and Project 3. Through the site analysis study, students will then find a
solution or ideas to create a suitable functional wall installation. Students
will then prepare a presentation boards and models to express their ideas.
Objectives:

Reflection
Through this project, I had
demonstrated observation skills and be able to record, organize, interpret and
describe a variety of issues via visual communications effectively. I was able
to manipulate variety of media and techniques to visualize ideas leading to a
finish product. The drawing techniques and skills I had learnt earlier from the
first 3 assignments had helped me a lot in this project.
1.There should be one page of introduction of the course and profile of your self.
ReplyDelete2. weak but acceptable reflections.. but there's room for improvement.
3. GOOD annotations and information under the images.
4. Missing Information about the Journal exercise and compilation plus the Hard copy portfolio.
5. Lack information about your final project such as why you design it that way.. and why this and that about your layout etc.
